Privacy Policy

follo is a Chrome extension that helps sales professionals capture and manage leads, review Discovery suggestions, import lead lists, organize follow-ups, save notes and source links, and track relationship activity.

Information follo Stores

follo may store information that you choose to save, including:

This information is stored locally in Chrome extension storage on your device. follo does not transmit your saved lead information to a follo-owned server. Discovery evidence, preferences, import recovery records, and backup-restore safety data are also kept locally.

How follo Uses Information

follo uses saved information only to provide its lead follow-up features, including:

Website Access

follo provides built-in lead detection on supported websites, including Gmail, LinkedIn, Salesforce, and HubSpot. The + Lead feature can also look for visible contact information on other webpages, including Outlook on the web, when you choose to use it and allow website access.

On supported websites, follo may read lead information that is visible on the current page so it can identify the person or company you are viewing, detect whether the lead has already been saved, and provide relevant save or open-lead actions.

Gmail Activity Detection

When Gmail is open, follo may process information visible in the current conversation—such as the sender, email address, subject, message time, thread identifier, and Gmail’s send confirmation—to recognize an email sent to or received from a saved lead.

This processing happens locally in your browser. follo does not send the contents of your emails to a follo-owned server. When Gmail does not provide a stable message identifier, follo may briefly process a limited portion of visible message text to create a one-way local identifier used only to prevent the same activity prompt from appearing repeatedly. The message text itself is not stored.

follo does not automatically change a saved lead after an email. It shows a prompt and waits for you to choose whether to update the follow-up date, open the lead, or dismiss the suggestion.

When you use the + Lead feature on another website, follo may process visible text on the current page to suggest likely contact names, company names, and email addresses. It may also access the current page title and URL so the page can be saved as a source for the lead. This processing happens locally in your browser. You can review, change, or ignore every suggested field, and information is saved only when you choose to create the lead.

follo uses website access only to provide its disclosed lead-management features. follo does not monitor, collect, or maintain a history of your general browsing activity.

Discovery

Discovery is off until you enable it and grant the required website access. You configure your own Gmail addresses and sending aliases so follo can distinguish you from other people. Your addresses, work-domain exclusions, ignored people, and Discovery preferences are stored locally.

On permitted Gmail pages, Discovery observes the conversation you open. It uses contact names and email addresses, native message identifiers, precise message times, sent or received direction, and the conversation link. It may read the subject’s forwarding prefix to withhold forwarded conversations; it does not retain the subject or message bodies as Discovery evidence. It does not fetch or scan your entire mailbox. When you choose Check current Gmail conversation, follo can use Gmail’s Expand all control to load the conversation’s reply headers.

On permitted Salesforce and HubSpot contact records, Discovery can observe the contact’s verified email identity, name, company, record link, and the time the record was viewed. It connects sources by email identity and uses observed Gmail activity to qualify suggestions. LinkedIn and Outlook capture remain separate from Discovery.

Discovery evidence and diagnostics stay in Chrome extension storage. The evidence window is 30 days; follo also keeps local ignored identities and review or snooze state to respect your choices. Discovery suggests a person or source link and waits for your review before saving it. Turning Discovery off stops observation. In Discovery’s advanced settings, Clear Discovery data and turn off removes its local evidence, preferences, and ignored people while keeping your saved leads.

Briefings and Reminders

follo creates follow-up briefings locally from your saved leads. It does not send lead information to an AI service to produce these briefings. Optional automatic reminders and desktop notifications use local settings and Chrome alarms. If you enable weekday reminders, browser reminder cards on permitted webpages can show a saved lead’s name, company, reason for follow-up, and personal note. Native desktop notifications use a generic message without lead names, email addresses, notes, or conversation content. You control reminder preferences in Settings.

Chrome Permissions

follo may request the following Chrome permissions:

Storage: Used to save lead information, follow-up details, settings, and related extension data in Chrome extension storage.

Tabs: Used to identify the current page, detect supported websites, save the correct source link, and reopen a saved lead’s source page.

Scripting: Used to run local capture and briefing tools on webpages for which you have granted access.

Side Panel: Used to display follo’s lead-management interface inside Chrome.

Alarms: Used to refresh the extension badge periodically so the due-lead count stays current and to schedule optional local follo reminders. This does not transmit lead data.

Notifications: Requested only if you enable desktop reminders. Used to display optional local reminders when priority leads need attention. Selecting a follo notification opens the extension so you can review or begin working those leads.

Website access: Requested for sites you choose to use. Used for visible lead capture, Discovery on supported sites, briefings, and local follow-up prompts. Separate optional connections to Polar support billing and license verification; an optional PostHog connection supports opted-in usage analytics.

Data Storage

follo stores saved lead data in Chrome extension storage associated with your browser. follo does not operate a server-side database for your saved lead information.

Because the data is stored through the browser extension, removing the extension or clearing its storage may permanently remove saved follo information unless you have created an export or backup.

Subscriptions, Checkout, and License Validation

follo offers optional Pro subscriptions. Checkout, subscription billing, taxes, receipts, and payment processing are provided by Polar Software, Inc. (“Polar”), which acts as the merchant of record. Payment details are entered in Polar’s secure checkout, which can appear inside follo or in a browser tab. Payment details are not entered into or stored by the follo extension. Payments processed through Polar may be handled by Polar’s payment-processing partners.

To activate and maintain follo Pro access, the extension securely sends the Polar-issued license key, a license activation identifier, and a limited browser or device label to Polar’s API. follo uses this information only to activate, validate, or deactivate the user’s Pro license. The license key and activation state are kept in extension-owned local storage, separately from your lead data.

After embedded checkout, Polar may return a short-lived customer session token. follo temporarily holds it in extension session storage to verify the paid follo order and retrieve its license. The token is excluded from usage analytics and lead backups. Starting checkout does not itself grant Pro.

follo does not send saved leads, contact details, notes, email contents, activity history, or saved source links to Polar. Polar handles information submitted through its checkout and customer portal under its own Privacy Policy and Buyer Terms.

follo does not use advertising trackers or third-party advertising analytics tools.

Optional Product Usage Analytics

Usage analytics is off until you choose to enable it in Quick setup or Settings → Usage & privacy. follo remains fully usable if you decline. This choice is separate from enabling reminders or Discovery.

When enabled, follo sends a limited set of product usage events to PostHog Cloud in the United States. These include saved-lead count ranges, successful captures and recorded follow-ups, feature and permission readiness, days with meaningful use, plan views, checkout starts, verified purchases, and verified Pro activations. Billing usage events follow the same optional analytics choice. Events include a random installation identifier, event time, extension version, and a test or production label. This is pseudonymous usage measurement, rather than a guarantee of complete anonymity.

Analytics does not include lead names, email addresses, company names, personal notes, message content, subjects, source links, browsing URLs, account credentials, or license keys. There is no automatic page-content capture or session recording. Location enrichment is disabled; like other internet services, PostHog receives the network information needed to accept a request, including its originating IP address. See PostHog’s privacy policy.

Turning usage analytics off stops further collection and delivery, clears unsent events, and removes the local analytics identifier. Turning it on again creates a new identifier. Unsent events expire after 24 hours and the local queue is limited to 60 events. Previously delivered events are not erased automatically by turning analytics off or uninstalling follo. Provider retention policies govern previously delivered events. For a data request, copy your analytics reference from Usage & privacy before turning it off, so matching records can be located.

Data Sharing

follo does not sell, rent, or share your saved lead information with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party marketing platforms.

follo does not use saved lead information for advertising, unrelated user profiling, credit decisions, insurance decisions, or other purposes unrelated to its disclosed lead follow-up features.

User Control and Deletion

You control the lead information saved in follo. You may edit or delete individual leads from inside the extension.

You may remove all locally stored follo information by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension’s stored data through Chrome.

CSV Imports, Exports, and Backups

When you choose a CSV file, follo reads and reviews it locally in your browser. The file is not uploaded to a follo server or an enrichment service. Only the rows you accept are added to your saved leads; existing or repeated email identities are skipped. CSV import recovery and Undo records are local extension data.

Export lead backup creates a JSON file at your request. Restore backup replaces the current lead state after confirmation and keeps a local safety snapshot for Undo. Lead backups do not contain billing license keys, checkout session tokens, or the usage analytics identifier. Importing a CSV is a separate additive operation.

Once an exported file is stored outside the extension, you are responsible for protecting, managing, and deleting that file.

Data Security

follo is designed to minimize data collection and keep saved lead information within Chrome extension storage. However, no browser, device, or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, browser profile, exported files, and any accounts used on supported third-party websites.

Third-Party Websites

follo works alongside third-party services such as Gmail, LinkedIn, Salesforce, HubSpot, and other websites from which you may choose to save a lead or source link.

Those services operate independently and have their own terms and privacy policies. follo is not responsible for the privacy or security practices of third-party websites.

Children’s Privacy

follo is intended for professional and business use and is not directed to children under 13.

Limited Use

follo uses information accessed through the extension only to provide, maintain, secure, and improve its disclosed lead follow-up and relationship-management features.

follo does not use or transfer information accessed through Chrome for advertising, unrelated user profiling, sale to data brokers, lending decisions, insurance decisions, or purposes unrelated to the extension’s disclosed functionality.

follo is designed to use information received through Chrome in accordance with the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.

Website Forms

If you voluntarily submit an Early Access or Support form on usefollo.com, follo receives the name, email address, company, request category, and message information you choose to provide. This website form information is separate from the lead information stored by the follo Chrome extension.

FormSubmit processes website-form submissions for the limited purpose of delivering them to support@usefollo.com and may retain submissions for up to 30 days. follo uses these submissions only to respond to requests, provide support, and communicate about product access.

Website Video

usefollo.com embeds its product walkthrough using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Loading or playing the video connects to YouTube, which may process technical and playback information under Google’s privacy policy. The embedded video does not receive or transmit any lead information saved in follo.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to follo’s features, permissions, or data practices. Updates will be reflected by changing the effective date at the top of this page.
